While most area high schools have played three to seven varsity boys basketball games by the start of Christmas break, Appomattox just made it onto the court for the first time this season on Friday. That happens when a school’s football team is busy winning the state championship, and most of the basketball team also plays football.
The Raiders (0-1) traveled to Forest and took on the Cavaliers (6-1) on Friday after having only one practice so far this season. While Jefferson Forest won 57-42, the boys from Appomattox showed promise in spite of their limited preparation time.
