According to the latest COVID-19 statistics provided by the Virginia Department of Health, the number of positive test results continues to rise in the Central Virginia health district.

As of today, 71 cases have been reported in Appomattox County with seven people being hospitalized at some point during the pandemic.

Calculating at rates per 100,000, Appomattox County has the second highest rate in the region at 448, second only to Lynchburg at 571. Appomattox County has the lowest number of cases in the region, but according to population they are experiencing the second highest rate of cases.

The Central Virginia health district consists of Lynchburg and the counties of Appomattox, Campbell, Amherst and Bedford.
