On June 20, Appomattox UDC Registrar Barbara Rumburg presented UDC member Susan Reynolds a certificate supplemental on her ancestor, James H. Godsey. Mr. Godsey enlisted in the Confederacy on June 19, 1861, in the Infantry, Company B, 46th Regiment, at Appomattox Court House. He was a “Prisoner of War” on Roanoke Island on Feb. 8, 1862, and released on parole at Elizabeth City, N.C., on Feb. 21, 1862. He was shot in the mouth and lost his left index finger in the battle at Petersburg, Virginia, June 17, 1864. His final rank in the Confederacy was corporal. He surrendered on April 9, 1865, at Appomattox Court House.
