For the Appomattox County Board of Supervisors, a new year calls for an organizational and administrative meeting. The board met on Monday, Jan. 4, to set the stage for conducting business in 2021.

County Administrator Susan Adams opened the meeting with prayer, asking for God’s hand of protection on first responders and other emergency personnel.

Supervisor Watkins Abbitt nominated Samuel Carter for chairman of the board. The nomination was seconded by Supervisor Trevor Hipps. There were no other nominations, and the vote to once again give Carter the seat of chairman was approved by all.
