Thursday night high speed chase ends in crash in Appomattox

Shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday night, a high speed police chase on U.S. Route 460 ended in a crash at Park Lane in Appomattox. 

Appomattox Sheriff Donald Simpson said the chase began in Bedford County and involved several juveniles in the vehicle being pursued. 

One suspect was apprehended on foot at Founders Lane. The other three were reportedly apprehended at the scene. 

No further information was provided. 

Law enforcement agencies involved were Bedford County, Campbell County, Appomattox County and Virginia State Police. 

According to reports, speeds reached in excess of 130 miles per hour.
