Da’Juan Marquese Brown-Clark, 30, of Farmville, pleaded guilty to felony charges of obtaining money under $500 by false pretenses and failure to appear in court. He was sentenced to serve one month of imprisonment, for which he was given credit for time already served.
According to evidence summarized in court, Brown-Clark returned items for cash at the Appomattox Walmart on June 28, 2018, without having a receipt of purchase in an intentional scheme. He was later identified in a photograph lineup by a manager of the Walmart store.
In addition to the one month served for obtaining money falsely, Brown-Clark received four years and 11 months suspended time. He received three more years suspended on the failure to appear charge.
Terms of the suspended sentence include five years good behavior, two years supervised probation, restitution of $16, and staying off the Appomattox Walmart property for the duration of his good behavior requirement.
