Relay for Life event in Appomattox inspires and entertains

Something special happened at Courtland Festival Park last Saturday that was both entertaining and inspirational.

On Saturday, May 6, Appomattox’s Relay for Life hosted its event to raise money for cancer research, entertain children, inspire others, and unite the community.

“We’d like to thank the community through their generous support with corporate sponsorships and our paint the town purple campaign,” said Corporate Sponsors for Appomattox Relay for Life Evelyn Ford.

First, the event helped Relay for Life achieve its annual fundraising goal of raising $45,000 per year in cancer research. Currently, the organization has raised $40,000 out of the $45,000 it hoped to raise for this fiscal year. Considering the organization has until October 1 to reach its goal, Relay for Life is hoping not only to reach that goal, but also to exceed it.
