Jason Marcus, 40, of Appomattox County, was found dead behind the wheel of a vehicle on Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 5) in Campbell County, according to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.

On Labor Day, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) responded to a call that led to a homicide investigation.

According to a statement from CCSO Police Information Officer Lt. Jeffrey Rater, the department received a call for a welfare check on a motorist in the vicinity of the 1000 block of Leesville Road in the Lynch Station area. When deputies from the department arrived at the scene, they discovered that the motorist, still seated behind the wheel, was deceased.

The criminal Investigations Division was called in and started investigating the case as a homicide. Later that day, the CCSO identified the victim as Marcus. The CCSO believes this incident to be an isolated case.
