Pamplin man found guilty at assault trial
David Lawson Hamlett, 37, of Pamplin, was found guilty of three felony charges: assault on a family member (third or subsequent offense), abduction by force and a protective order violation.
The case was tried in Appomattox County Circuit Court on Tuesday, Aug. 23, before Judge Andy Nelson. No jury was present for the trial, otherwise known as a bench trial. A prior jury trial scheduled on July 28 was declared a mistrial after a juror discovered that she knew the alleged victim and could not be impartial.
