Central Virginia Community College recently announced the completion of a key step in its reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) with the conclusion of its recent on-site review.
The on-site committee visited CVCC the week of Oct. 16-19 and was chaired by Dr. Patricia L. Donat, senior vice president with the SACSCOC. In addition to meeting with President John Capps and other members of the college’s leadership team, the review committee visited two of CVCC’s off-site campuses and met with groups of faculty, staff, and students at each of its locations.
At the request of the Times Virginian, CVCC Assistant Director of Institutional Advancement Trish White commented on the committee’s visit to the Appomattox CVCC location.
“The Accreditation Committee is responsible for verifying compliance with the requisite standards and requirements through interviews with campus personnel, observation, and review of documents on site,” White said. “As part of its comprehensive review, the Committee visited CVCC’s Appomattox Center on October 16. In their report, the committee found the college compliant with all standards. We expect a final decision following the review of the committee's report by the SACSCOC Board of Trustees in June 2024. The findings of this visiting report rests with the SACSCOC Board of Trustees. A copy of the entire report may be obtained from the institution.”
