APPOMATTOX, Va. — Last month, the American Civil War Museum at Appomattox joined the multi-state Civil War Trails program. “Fighting to the End” is the title of their new Civil War Trails sign that helps visitors understand the battle which swirled over the museum’s campus. By joining the Civil War Trails programs, the museum will also be marketed internationally by the program’s partners including municipal, and state travel offices.
“We often get asked by visitors where the battlefield is,” said Bob Sayre, Director of Retail at the American Civil War Museum. “Not only will this sign help answer that question but invite them inside to hear more.”
The project was inspired by those visitor inquires and was championed by Sayre and made possible by the curatorial team at the American Civil War Museum and Patrick Schroeder, acting chief historian at Appomattox Court House National Historical Park. Together, they have put together a great resource for visitors.
