The hotly debated topic of the American Civil War Museum’s (ACWM) request to collaborate with the town of Appomattox on hosting a welcome center within the museum came to a conclusion at the Jan. 13 town council meeting.

The town council was split in favor of and against the welcome center, with Mayor Paul Harvey breaking the tie with his vote in favor of it.

It was council member James Boyce who placed a motion on the floor to approve $15,065 to move forward with the ACWM welcome center (with the option to also purchase another digital map for the downtown visitor’s center.)
