Shortly before 4 p.m. today in Appomattox, a tractor trailer collided with an SUV in the vicinity of 423 Oakville Road, near the Murphy USA gas station.
According to a Virginia State Police trooper at the scene, the passenger in the SUV, a female minor, was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries. The driver of the SUV, a male teenager, and the driver of the tractor trailer, an adult male, did not appear to sustain injuries.
The trooper stated that the tractor trailer driver would be summoned for failing to yield the right-of-way. The tractor trailer attempted to make a right turn onto Oakville Road from the Route 460 West off-ramp. The SUV was traveling north in the left lane of Oakville Road and was unable to avoid a collision with the tractor trailer.
The SUV sustained damage to the front end and was towed by Litchford's Garage and Towing, of Concord.
Assisting at the scene was the Appomattox County Rescue Squad, Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department Crash Rescue 8, Appomattox County Sheriff's Office and Virginia State Police.
