Clarence Edward Carson, 94, received his call to heaven on February 15, 2021.
He was born June 29, 1926 in Amherst County, and was the beloved husband of Mary Cornelia Reynolds Carson for 75 years. Being the youngest son of nine children, born of the late Alice Lafayette Thompson and Aurelius Burton Carson, he was preceded in death by his son, Clarence Randall Carson; two brothers, A. Burton Carson, Jr., Theodore R. Carson; five sisters, Ossie C. Anderson, Oneeda C. Thompson, Elsie C. Womack, Alma C. Garrette, Lobelia “Billie” Steele.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Cornelia Reynolds Carson; daughter, Brenda Joyce Carson Sauls and husband, Barry of Spout Spring; two grandchildren, Barry Ward Sauls and wife, Krista of Zionsville, PA, Chantel Carson Sauls Elder and husband, David of Appomattox; and one great-grandchild, Brianna Faith Elder of Appomattox; one sister, Frances Roberta Evans of Concord.
He was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church, Spout Spring, and a retired farmer. Being outside in God’s creation and fresh air, whether working or playing was his joy. He was light-hearted and gifted in singing rhymes about any situation he encountered.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
