Hunt Smart, Fish Hard: Hunters for the Hungry

Hunters for the Hungry. Since the program began in 1991, hunters of Virginia have given so generously of their harvest and have been so instrumental in helping Hunters for the Hungry in their fight against hunger. In 2021 the program celebrated 30 years of providing high protein essential red meat to so many Virginians. To date, with the support of hunters and non-hunters alike, the program has now processed and distributed over 7,900,000 pounds of venison. This amount of meat equates to over 31,700,000 quarter-pound servings being provided to men, women, children, the elderly, the homeless, and veterans throughout Virginia.

Donating is simple — just take your legally harvested and field dressed deer to one of their collection points or to one of their participating processors. The donation of large bodied mature deer helps them to use the financial gifts that are given to the program cost-effectively.

Combating Hunger In Virginia. Their program provides a much-needed source of low-fat protein rich meat. Since they began in 1991, they have processed and distributed over 7.4 million pounds of venison to missions, churches, food pantries, and food banks all across Virginia.
