Hunt Smart — Fish Hard

Turkey season is here and kicks off this Saturday. Here are the dates for turkey season and updates on ticks.

Spring Turkey Season: Bag Limit — One per day, bearded turkeys only. Hunters may take one, two or three bearded turkeys depending on how many turkeys were taken in the fall season. Season Dates: April 11 through May 3, statewide. One-half hour before sunrise until noon each day. May 4 through 16, statewide. One-half hour before sunrise to sunset.

Tick season is here. Just like the warm weather brings out snakes, it brings out ticks as well. It seems the warmer the weather the more you hear people talking about ticks. Everybody that hunts knows they have to check themselves for ticks every time they exit the woods, especially turkey hunters. Everybody that fishes needs to check themselves once they leave the fishing area. One thing that may run through our mind, when we have a tick attached to us could I get Lyme disease?
