The Appomattox Raiders girls basketball team improved its record to 4-3 after two victories last week over Heritage and William Campbell.

On Friday, the Raiders topped the Generals at William Campbell by a score of 42-37.

On Wednesday, Jan. 10, the Cavaliers of Heritage visited Appomattox and lost 43-23, dropping their record to 2-8.

The first period of Wednesday’s game was tight as Heritage took a lead of 9-8 on a back-handed layup by Tailor Coles along the baseline. Coles led the Cavaliers with nine points on the night.

At the start of the second period, Kenadee McCullough scored the next three points for Appomattox on separate possessions — a jump shot and free throw — to retake the lead at 11-9.
