Goodman, Abdussalaam sign National Letter of Intent

On Thursday, May 4, two student-athletes from Appomattox County High School signed a National Letter of Intent to continue athletically at the NCAA level of competition.

Bennett Goodman, a swimmer, signed with Randolph College. Nadiyah Abdussalaam, a track and field athlete, signed with Concord University (West Virginia).

Goodman, who has been a first-place winner at regional competition in high school, has earned an academic scholarship and will swim at the Division III level (which does not offer athletic scholarships) while at Randolph. One reason he chose Randolph is because of its close proximity to Appomattox.

“It’s closer to my house and I don’t want to be so far away from my family,” Goodman said. “Also, because it’s not such a big college; it’s perfect size. Plus, I have friends that go there, too, so I can be with them.”
