Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal crash in Appomattox County. The crash occurred at 10:55 p.m. on May 11 on Route 26 at the intersection with Route 460.
A 2000 Pontiac Grand Am was traveling south on Route 26 when it encountered a pedestrian in the roadway. The vehicle was unable to avoid striking the pedestrian.
The pedestrian, Wallace P. Marsh, 35, of Appomattox, died at the scene.
The driver of the Pontiac, a 60-year-old Appomattox man, was not injured in the crash.
No charges were placed.
