On Monday, May 8, the Appomattox Soccer Association (ASA) held its Youth Soccer Appreciation Night at Bragg Stadium during the intermission between the conclusion of the Appomattox Raiders varsity boys soccer game and the start of the Appomattox Raiders varsity girls soccer game.
ASA, which is run by volunteers, exists to give children ages 2 1/2 through 18 a recreational soccer league by which they can have fun and learn fundamentals of the sport.
As the youth team members and coaches were introduced on the stadium track by the public address announcer, they walked between two rows of both the Raider boys and girls soccer teams, complete with high fives, fist bumps, smiles, and a little bit of shyness.
The following is a list of team sponsors according to age group:
Under 4: That’s Too Cute Boutique; Errand Runner Transportation Services; Bays Trash Removal; RSG Landscaping; Appomattox Auto Works; Webb’s Tire.
Under 6: Weyerhauser; American Legion Post 104; Hickey Plumbing, Air and Electrical; J & D Transmissions and Automotive; Nina Bell’s Cottage; Saint By Megan Gilliam; TRF Auctions; Ryan Stalker Cleaning Services.
