Appomattox County High School track and field athlete Sarai Glover was named Outstanding Female Field Performer at the Dogwood District Last Chance Qualifier held Saturday in Altavista.

Glover finished first place in the 200-meter dash, the high jump and the long jump, and placed second in the triple jump.

The Appomattox girls team was second overall with 99 total points, behind the winner Altavista with 147 points. Following the top two teams were Galileo (86), Chatham (47), Gretna (36), Dan River (28), William Campbell (25) and Nelson County (1).

On Thursday, May 11, Appomattox Middle School (AMS) hosted a meet at Appomattox County High School’s Bragg Stadium against middle school teams from Amherst, Brookville, Liberty Christian Academy (LCA), Monelison and Rustburg.

The AMS boys and girls teams earned first place in total team points. The AMS boys finished with a score of 85.50 over second place LCA at 71.50). The AMS girls had 97 points to top Rustburg’s 56.
