After a slow start to the 2022-23 season that led to a 1-4 record, the Appomattox Raiders girls basketball team has improved to 5-8 with a recent three-game home winning streak. The Raiders downed Dan River 40-35 (Jan. 6), Heritage 38-33 (Jan. 10) and Buckingham 46-33 (Jan. 12).
The Raiders’ improvement was evident in the win over Heritage, a Class 3 team who previously defeated Appomattox, a Class 2 team, 48-35 on Dec. 19 in Lynchburg.
The Raiders hosted Dogwood District rival Gretna (11-4) on Tuesday. The final result will be posted in the next edition of the Times Virginian.
