The Appomattox Raiders girls squad finished in a third place tie at the VHSL Class 1/2 Combined Indoor State Championships held at Liberty University on March 1 and 2.
Appomattox tied with Tazewell, each having team totals of 39 points. Floyd County was the overall girls team winner with 55 points, followed by Poquoson with 44 points. Thirty-eight girls teams scored points during the championships.
Harmony Troxler led the way for the Lady Raiders with two second place finishes. She placed second in the long jump competition with a distance of 17 feet, 2 inches. She also had the second longest distance in the triple jump at 35 feet, 7 inches.
The next highest individual ranking for Appomattox athletes was Morgan Flamm, who was third in the girls pole vault finals with a height of 8 feet.
The girls 4x200-meter relay team also placed third with a time of 1:52.59. Runners were Dezyre Christian, Harmony Troxler, Sarai Glover and Nadiyah Abdussalaam.
