Naomia Scruggs West, 89, “NanNan” of Pamplin, died Monday, May 20, 2019, at her home. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.
Born in Charlotte County on June 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Robert T. and Alice Scruggs of Cullen. She was the wife of the late Arvel West of Pamplin. She worked for Craddock Terry in Farmville for over thirty years and retired in 1996. She was a lifetime member of Spring Creek Baptist Church in Darlington Heights.
She is survived by her children: Gloria Garrison (Stanley) of Appomattox, Thomas West (Penny), Fay Pack (Rick Demuth), Gay Thompson (Martin), and Claude “Kippy” West (Penny) all of Pamplin; grandchildren, Ricky Garrison, Melinda Totty, Greg Garrison, Jennifer West Williams, Brian Sears, Chris and Bruce Thompson, and Melissa Churchill; numerous great grandchildren; great- great grandchildren; a loving brother Dale Scruggs (Patty) of Blackstone; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Naomia’s pride and joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She very much enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends.
A visitation was held Thursday, May 23, 2019, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, at Spring Creek Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery.
