Appomattox Raiders baseball season ends with loss to Lebanon in state tourney

Tonight, the Appomattox Raider baseball team's run in the VHSL Class 2 State Tournament came to an abrupt end with a 15-1 loss at Lebanon.

Appomattox catcher Luke Olimpio homered in the top of the first inning, his second long ball in three games, to give the Raiders an early 1-0 edge.

However, Lebanon struck back with four runs in the bottom of the first. They would tally 14 of their 15 runs in the first four innings to put the game virtually out of reach barring a miracle comeback by Appomattox.

The loss ends the season for the Raiders (13-12) and advances Lebanon to the state semifinal round Friday at Radford University.
