Beginning with the Appomattox Raiders boys Wednesday night 56-49 upset over previously undefeated Halifax County, both the boys and girls varsity basketball programs of Appomattox County High School concluded this week's action on high notes.
Although the guys and gals each lost games to Nelson County, they bounded back with wins in their next two games.
Aside from the win at Halifax, the Raider boys (5-6) avenged a Jan. 8 one-point home loss (decided on a controversial call that erased a late lead-taking bucket by Tyler Gilliam) with a Friday night victory at Buckingham by a score of 53-47.
Meanwhile, the Lady Raiders (6-7) are also racking up the wins after starting the year 0-5 against a number of larger schools. The girls won their final two games of a three-game home stand this week, defeating Nottoway 47-37 on Wednesday and Buckingham 37-28 on Friday.
