The Appomattox County Board of Supervisors approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the county and the Town of Appomattox, which requested the county to act as a fiscal agent for the COVID-19 Municipal Utility Relief Program Implementation.

According to the agenda at the Dec. 20 county supervisors meeting, “the Town of Appomattox was awarded $12,978.84 in COVID-19 funds to assist with municipal utility customer relief for all eligible town customers.”

Town of Appomattox Treasurer Kim Ray, who spoke publicly at the meeting, said that grant assistance only applies to residential customers.

Ray explained the process of determining who qualifies for assistance for their water and sewer utilities.
