At last Thursday’s meeting of the Appomattox County School Board, a rather unusual topic found its way into the otherwise business-minded discussion — a missing cow.

The runaway cow, which belongs to the Appomattox County High School FFA department, was reported missing and on the loose at noon Thursday. She was caught at around 7 p.m. and placed in a corral before being returned to ACHS at 11 a.m. Friday morning.

According to Ed McCann, an agricultural teacher at ACHS, the cow escaped through an open gate to the land laboratory. He said the cow was caught in the woods across from the high school.
