According to a local report, a man wearing a ski mask was approaching vehicles at the intersection of Route 26 (Oakville Road) and Route 60 (Anderson Highway) in Appomattox County late Sunday night.
Major Robbie Richardson of the Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office told the Times Virginian that someone had called the Virginia State Police directly to report the incidents involving several masked men. The Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office was then called to the scene by Virginia State Police, but nothing or no one of a suspicious nature was found.
The Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office did not post about the alleged incident because they could not find anything at the scene, according to Richardson.
However, Richardson and Sheriff Donald Simpson want drivers to use caution in that area and others locally. If anyone is approached in their vehicle, call 911 to report the incident. Do not engage in conversation or roll down the window.
