The Appomattox County Board of Supervisors (BOS) approved a five-member Department of Social Services Advisory Board (DSSAB) during its business meeting Monday.
All five potential candidates listed on the meeting agenda were approved by a 4-1 margin, and will serve four-year terms. The newly-formed advisory board consists of the following individuals:
- Susan Schutt, Children's Advocacy Center
- Carla Lewis
- Margaret Wright
- Anthony Train Johnson
- Tom Adams
In August, the BOS voted to dissolve the now former Appomattox County Social Services Board and replace it with an advisory board in response to what the BOS described in its public statement as “written complaints and findings received concerning the local Department of Social Services.” The nature of those complaints and findings was not shared at the Aug. 13 special called meeting.
