Crewe man charged with attempted murder of law enforcement following pursuit in Appomattox County

APPOMATTOX, Va. -- At approximately 1 a.m. on Sept. 9, deputies with the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to assist with a pursuit into Appomattox County. The vehicle was being pursued by Nottoway County and Price Edward County Sheriff's Office deputies.

The vehicle was pursued halfway through the county until it turned and went back into Prince Edward.

Spike strips were deployed, deflating one of the suspect's tires. He continued to flee, at which point he decided to ram one of the Appomattox deputy patrol car two different times.

The suspect was guided to a complete stop, bailed and ran on foot until being caught and arrested by the deputies involved.

The suspect was identified and charged as follows:

Lay'Quan Omaray Hill, 19, of Crewe

  • Attempted murder of a law enforcement officer
  • Felony hit and run
  • Felony elude
