At the Dec. 20 meeting of the Appomattox County Board of Supervisors, an update on the 2021 fiscal year for the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park was given by the park’s superintendent, Robin Snyder, who highlighted visitor numbers and various projects.
Park visitation for fiscal 2021 was 69,675 people, according to Snyder, an increase over the 2019 pre-COVID numbers. Approximately 16,000 people visited the park for trail and recreational use. After a downtime at the park due to COVID-19, the Visitor Center was reopened in July 2021.
In relation to the ongoing pandemic issues, Snyder is hoping for some return to normalcy at the park in the coming months.
