Appomattox County recently received a payment of $43,500.48 from its sale of timber in fiscal 2022, which was from July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022.
Michael Womack, forestry manager for the Virginia Department of Forestry, appeared at the August meeting of the Appomattox County Board of Supervisors to provide the update and deliver the check.
“The Virginia state forest system is self-supporting from the sale of timber and use permits for recreational activities. The county the timber is harvested in receives a portion of those timber sale proceeds,” Womack told the supervisors.
