At the Jan. 19 Appomattox County Board of Supervisors meeting, Falling River District John Hinkle spoke up about last week’s incident at the Capitol building.

“Mr. Chairman, I’ve been contacted by a couple of my constituents feeling that this board needed to make a resolution regarding the Jan. 6 activities at the Capitol,” Hinkle said. “My response would be that as soon as the people who have sat quiet and not said anything about the billions of dollars of property damages that occurred all summer and the big loss of lives that occurred all summer and the inciteful rhetoric coming from those politicians now who want to condemn others for Jan. 6 — till those people step up and admit their fault and condemn the actions of their supporters, I don’t see where this board would be open to condemn the Jan. 6 activity.”

The actions of a crowd of Americans that gathered in front of the Capitol building in Washington, D.C., to support President Trump and cry out against the election process of 2020 have become a topic of controversy.

“Mr. Hinkle, I think you couldn’t have said it any better,” said Chairman Sammy Carter.

“Amen,” quipped Piney Mountain District Supervisor Watkins Abbitt.
