Jury acquits man on police assault charge, convicts on two others

In Appomattox County Circuit Court on July 14, a jury acquitted a Palmyra man on a felony charge of assault and battery against law enforcement but found him guilty of two lesser charges.

Lewis Edward Lacy Jr., 31, was convicted on misdemeanor charges of obstruction of justice/resisting arrest and public intoxication from an incident that took place in Appomattox on Oct. 19, 2021.
