This morning at Liberty Baptist Church in Appomattox, a Vietnam War Commemoration ceremony was held for local Vietnam War veterans who reside in the 5th Congressional District.

American Legion Post 104 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9855 sponsored the ceremony.

U.S. Representative Bob Good (R-VA), who represents the 5th Congressional District, was the keynote speaker and presented each veteran with a commemorative lapel pin and certificate of special recognition.

Post 104 Commander Mike Warren expressed appreciation to his fellow Vietnam War veterans, stating, "Thank you for your service because that was something that was never said to us 50-plus years ago when we came back from overseas."

The ceremony is part of the national 50th anniversary United States of American Vietnam War Commemoration, which began in 2012 and concludes in 2025.
