The Appomattox County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously July 18 to approve a proposed five-year lease agreement for Appomattox Christian Academy (ACA) to develop space at the Carver-Price Complex for a vocational training center.
Bruce Boone, who is an ACA school board member and is a junior warden responsible for financial stability at St. Andrews Anglican Church, addresses the issue with the supervisors during their July 18 meeting. ACA is a mission of the church.
Boone emphasized the importance of having a location in Appomattox where students will be able to learn trades such as welding, plumbing, electrical skills, and possibly more, and receive certification before they move on to college or continue into the work force. The vocational training center would not only benefit students of ACA but the community as a whole.
