At the Appomattox County Board of Supervisors’ meeting Monday, Susan Walton, captain of the Appomattox County Volunteer Rescue Squad, provided an update on the accomplishments of the rescue squad and made a request for a change to the county ordinance on billing.

The ordinance is found in County Code Article 3, Section 15.2-6 through 15.2-10.

The code reads that Appomattox County Rescue Squad shall generate a bill for ambulance transport within the boundaries of Appomattox. Further down in the code, county attorney Tom Lacheney pointed out that if the person has insurance, that person will not be invoiced for co-payments or co-insurance.

The ordinance seemed to require clarification.
