On Thursday at approximately 4:07 p.m., the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) was dispatched to the 2000 block of Chestnut Mountain Road for a male that had shot a firearm multiple times at a female in the yard of a residence.
While en route to the complaint, deputies encountered the male suspect driving a black Ford Fusion at the intersection of Stage Road and Stonewall Road. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver led deputies on a pursuit into Campbell County. On Bluebird Lane, the driver fled on foot, then barricaded himself inside a nearby residence. After a brief negotiation, the suspect surrendered himself without injury.
Simultaneously during the pursuit, other deputies with the ACSO located the female at a residence on Chestnut Mountain Road with no injuries.
The suspect was identified as Brandon Shane Holton, Jr., of Appomattox County. Holton was charged with the following in Appomattox County:
- Felony larceny of a firearm
- Felony eluding
- Misdemeanor brandishing of a firearm
- Misdemeanor reckless handling of a firearm
- Driving with a suspended license
The Appomattox County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Campbell County Sheriff's Office and Virginia State Police for their assistance.
