The Appomattox Raiders girls basketball team is the 2023-24 Dogwood District champion after a Tuesday night 44-16 home victory over Dan River.

Appomattox, in its second season under head coach Emily Hill, finishes the regular season with a 17-5 overall record, and 11-1 in the district.

"I feel like we worked together as a team," said Raiders senior Kenadee McCullough. "At the beginning of the year we were struggling a little bit but we grew and played together as a team, and that's how we got here."

According to the Dogwood District website, Appomattox hosts Patrick County on Monday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. to open the regional playoffs.
