APPOMATTOX, Va. -- On July 15 at 1:26 a.m., Deputy Wilson with the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office proactively made a consensual encounter with a suspicious vehicle at a local church parking lot.
The only occupant of the vehicle was identified as Corbin Michael Dwigans, 19, of Greenwood, Ind.
Deputy Wilson uncovered that Dwigans had driven from Indiana to meet a 16-year-old female for a sexual encounter. He was then place under arrest and found to have a concealed weapon on his person.
After the arrest, a search warrant was issued for Dwigans' cellular device, which uncovered that he planned to abduct the juvenile.
Dwigans was charged with the following:
- Attempted Abduction
- Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor
- 2 counts of Possession of Child Pornography
- Possession of a Concealed Weapon
- Underage Possession of Alcohol
