Appomattox, Concord, Pamplin crews battle Horseshoe Road fire
Just after 6 a.m. Sunday, Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department and Appomattox County Rescue Squad were dispatched first due with Concord Volunteer Fire Department as second due for a structure fire in the 3000 block of Horseshoe Road.
First arriving crews arrived to find all occupants out of the structure and observed smoke coming from the roof at the back of the home. A couple minutes later the fire vented through the roof and appeared to extend throughout the attic.
Engine 1's crew arrived and performed an offensive interior attack. Tanker 1 established a water supply while Ladder 1's crew placed ground ladders and set up the aerial master stream. Engine 3's crew provided additional manpower. Command requested that Pamplin Volunteer Fire Department be added for additional water supply. Units from Company 13 and Pamplin aided with Rapid Interview Team and water supply and overhaul.
No occupants were hurt, however one firefighter was transported to the hospital by ground for evaluation. Everything checked out and the firefighter returned home shortly after being evaluated.
