The Falling River Country Club in Appomattox is currently hosting the “Fore Kids Golf” Charity Golf Tournament, ending today to benefit both the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Central Virginia and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Virginia non-profit organizations.
The official start of the two-week event was Friday, Sept. 25, but rainy weather was a hindrance to opening day.
Kelli Diaz, the Recruitment and Development Coordinator with CASA of Central Virginia, said that the way this tournament is set up — where teams may play at their own selected time — is convenient for individuals who have concerns about social distancing and COVID-19 and don’t wish to play around a crowd of people.
Diaz played the Falling River Country Club golf course for the first time with her team on Sunday, Sept. 27, and found the course to be comfortable for herself and her teammates, all of various golfing experience.
