Unlike 2019, 2020 town council saw little discussion on train depot renovations. The table appears to turn again as the train depot made it onto the Sept. 29 Appomattox town council agenda.
Discussion of the train depot renovation project along with the potential of financing renovations with debt made its way onto the agenda that night.
“I’ve been following this process for a while,” noted councilman Nathan Simpson.
Learning more about the physical condition of the building, Simpson said he was concerned about the need to protect the building from any sort of decay or rot and making sure it’s safe.
“I think it might be smart for us to take a look at what needs to be done so we can look at cost estimates,” said Simpson.
Simpson said he wanted to start the conversation and figure out a path forward on the renovations.
