The Appomattox Raiders returned to the Christiansburg Aquatic Center on Saturday for the VHSL Class 1&2 Swimming Championships, where the girls 4x100 freestyle relay took third place and recorded the first top-three finish in Appomattox County swimming history for the program for any Raider relay.
The relay team of junior Morgan Flamm and seniors Kirsten Moore, Berkley Jamerson and Catherine Thomas set a new Appomattox County High School record in the event as well, with a time of 4:08.73. The Lady Raiders had entered the finals with a new school record, and yet eclipsed that in the finals.
The Raiders boys 4x100 freestyle relay team of freshman Conner Burton, sophomore Brayden Canterbury, and seniors Bennett Goodman and Charlie Drinkard also finished with its best relay performance in program history, setting two new school records in the process, and placed fourth with a time of 3:47.45. The Raider boys finished the meet eighth overall in the state, and the girls finished 10th.
