Appomattox Raiders swimmers defeated both Goochland and Prince Edward County high schools last Friday night at Hampden-Sydney College, setting a state standard time in the process.

The girl’s 4x100 freestyle relay team of Berkley Jamerson, Kirsten Moore, Morgan Flamm and Catherine Thomas posted a 4:47 time in the meter pool, making a Class 1/2 VHSL State relay cut for the first time in the program’s history. The relay team also took first place by more than a minute over the next fastest team.

Overall, Raider swimmers had a solid evening with the other two girls relay teams also taking first place, and the boys taking two second places and one first place in their relays.
