Appomattox County High School participated in four different Region 2C playoff contests today. Baseball, softball and boys soccer all played quarterfinal games at home this evening. Two of the three were eliminated from postseason action. Tennis played at Radford University. Results are below:
Softball: Appomattox defeated James River 13-0. Sydney Bryant hit an inside-the-park home run with two runners on base in the second inning for a 6-0 Raider lead. Appomattox is 18-2 on the season. James River finishes at 6-13. The Raiders' next game and opponent will be announced at a later time.
Tennis: Shannon Coleman of Appomattox lost in the singles quarterfinal round to Natalie McMahon of Glenvar (6-3, 6-3). Coleman and Lola Harrison will play in the doubles tournament Thursday morning against Elayna Harris and Maddie Slusher of Floyd County.
Baseball: Liberty (Bedford) defeated Appomattox 6-2. Appomattox finishes at 10-10 on the season. Liberty improves to 9-13.
Boys Soccer: Chatham defeated Appomattox 2-0. Appomattox finishes with a 9-6-2 record. Chatham improves to 8-7.
In other action yet to come, the Appomattox track and field team will compete in the Region 2C championships at Glenvar High School on Thursday at 1 p.m. The girls soccer team will travel to Nelson County for a quarterfinal matchup Friday at 5:30 p.m.
