Raider volleyball overcomes wild 2nd set to defeat Gretna, closes regular season tonight

The Appomattox Raiders varsity volleyball team overcame a wild set two during Tuesday night’s home victory over the Gretna Hawks to remain undefeated at 19-0.

After Appomattox nipped Gretna in set one by a score of 25-23, the Raiders and Hawks battled ferociously in set two until the Raiders pulled off a 31-29 come from behind win.

Two officials’ calls that gave points to Appomattox late in set two sparked controversy on the Gretna side, the Hawks and their visiting fans believing they had scored on each play.

Appomattox closes out the regular season tonight at William Campbell.
