The Appomattox Raiders girls basketball team opened its 2022-23 regular season Thursday night with a home meeting against Jefferson Forest, a Class 4 team from the Seminole District. The Cavaliers, in their third game of the season, defeated the Raiders 56-24.
Georgia Mills scored 18 points for Appomattox against the Cavaliers.
Appomattox also lost to Amherst in a road game Tuesday night by a score of 44-21 to drop to 0-2.
Appomattox hosts two home games this week: Rustburg on Thursday and Amherst on Friday. Junior varsity tips off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at approximately 7 p.m.
