The Appomattox Raiders football team travels to Lord Botetourt tonight for a 7 p.m. start. The team hopes to regroup after last week's game against Heritage.
The Heritage Pioneers made a trip to Appomattox County High School last Friday night and romped to a 50-14 defeat of the Raiders, plowing through the first half with a 43-7 lead by the time halftime arrived.
Appomattox’s record drops to 1-2 on the season. Heritage, a Class 3 Seminole District team, improves to 2-1.
The Raiders struck first, scoring a touchdown on a pass from quarterback Gray Peterson to Regan Conroy, who flipped the ball on a lateral to Jonathan Pennix, who sprinted down the left sideline and into the end zone. Mario Rubio tacked on the extra point for a 7-0 lead.
The Pioneers quickly tied the score on a touchdown run by Rajan Booker-Felder and extra point by Eric Stickle.
